Peace lilies will never have brown tips if you do a 1 simple task in autumn

Peace lilies are usually quite easy-going plants, but now they may need a little extra care as their leaves may start to wilt or even turn brown in autumn.  Matt, a houseplant expert from Lively Root, has revealed peace lilies need more than watering at this time of year, as they often dry when left in a bad place in a home.

He said: “Peace lily flowers may turn brown if they grow in indoor spaces with low humidity. These include heated and air-conditioned rooms with reduced levels of air moisture, which can lead to browning flowers of your beloved peace lily plant.” Peace lilies naturally grow in tropical rainforests, and need to be placed somewhere warm with high humidity to keep their leaves healthy.

When a peace lily is placed somewhere dry, the moisture in their leaves will evaporate quickly and the roots cannot replace the lost water fast enough so they dry out.

The lack of moisture will begin to damage the plant tissue which causes the leaves to turn brown, and will eventually kill the plant as it is not getting enough water.

In September, many people begin to switch on their heating, and the heat from a radiator dries out the air in a room and really damages a peace lily.

It is also common to place a peace lily next to a window, but any cold draft will also dry out a peace lily, and make it unlikely it will survive during the colder months.

If you want to keep a peace lily leaves green and vibrant, then the best place in your home to keep it is often a kitchen or bathroom.

These rooms produce a lot of steam regularly since we cook in kitchens and shower in bathrooms daily, and the peace lily will love the humidity.

Peace lilies still need sunlight, so make sure it is placed near a window, but do not place it on the windowsill, as it will not enjoy being near the freezing cold.

Instead, place it near a window on a table nearby, as peace lilies only need filtered and indirect sunlight to survive.

If you are drying your laundry indoors it can help to have a peace lily nearby as they will suck up a lot of the humidity, which will greatly reduce the risk of mould in your home.

Wherever you place your peace lily, taking a few seconds to place it away from cold drafts or any heat sources in your home will help it stay healthy throughout the colder seasons
