Finding a good mascara that coats and lengthens lashes, doesn’t crumble, and lasts all day is like the holy grail of makeup products. However, Deborah Granville Scott, a 70-year-old beauty enthusiast, thinks she might have found the one. Made by Jones Road, the brand created by makeup artist Bobbi Brown, The Mascara costs £26, and comes only in black, which might be limiting for some people.
Discussing the cosmetic product on her YouTube channel – Beauty by Dez – Deborah explained that she had been trying out some products by Jones Road and would be seeing how they faired over the course of a day.
In addition to the mascara, Deborah revealed she had tried the Just Enough Tinted Moisturiser, £44, the Best Pencil in brown, £24, Sparkle Wash in So Pretty, £26, and three shades of the Lip Tints, £28. The Lip Tints aren’t available on the Jones Road website and appear to only be sold at Liberty.
The mascara has drawn strong reviews from shoppers — almost 13,000 — who call it the “best” and rave about its longevity. It contains vitamin E, which acts as an antioxidant to protect hair follicles from damage and reducing oxidative stress, which can cause hair loss.
Reviewing the product, Deborah says: “It’s a whopper of a mascara, it really is quite, big, heavy and fat. It has quite a big brush, it’s curved too. It’s the Christmas tree-shape, I think it’s quite unusual.”
Applying her first coat, Deborah said the brush felt “nice and feathery” and she was able to easily cover every lash. Showing off the first application, she told viewers: “I think that’s pretty impressive, it’s certainly made them longer. I really love that, it’s really black too, which I like.”
After applying a second coat, she gave her thoughts: “I really like the length, and I really like the separation. There doesn’t appear to be any clumping and the brush was easy to use. I’m very impressed with that.”
Deborah finished off her look using the rest of the products then went away for nine hours to show how the make-up had lasted. At the final check in, she told fans: “I think the hero product is the mascara, I absolutely love it. When I removed it yesterday it came off really easily. It’s long-lasting, I haven’t got any flaking and I had a nap this afternoon and nothing came off. I really recommend it.”
