Queen Maxima of the Netherlands is known for her bold fashion choices, but her latest sartorial decision did not go down well with fashionistas. The Dutch queen attended an event in Amsterdam on Thursday, September 18, to mark the 40th anniversary of the Netherlands Brain Bank (NHB).

Maxima sported a new dress by one of her favourite Belgian designers, Natan Couture. The green dress was made from silk and featured long, soft fringes all around.

Even though it was classed as a short dress, the fringes around the trim made it look like a midi one, giving it a bold look.

She paired it with a different-hued green hat, grey heels, a grey clutch, and bold green hoops.

But royal fans were not impressed with her sartorial choice and took to social media to express their views.

One user wrote on Instagram: “I give her a lot of credit for being adventurous! But this is a disaster.”

A second user agreed: “It feels like the lining is all bunched up? Something is off for sure.”

Another one opined: “This dress needed better tailoring.”

A fourth one said: “I have always loved this shade of green but this dress is so, so wrong.”

A fifth one commented: “Goodness me this is a hot green mess! Tasteless at best!”

Others were more in favour of the outfit, with one fan writing: “Well in my opinion Natan should be banished I don’t generally like his stuff, however if anyone can carry off this look is Queen Maxima, she looks great!”
