Jeremy Kyle has been left less than impressed on TalkTV after it was reported that the Home Office is hiring a religious adviser to help illegal migrants get married. Calling the whole situation “a joke”, Jeremy waded in on the conversation: “For god’s sake…find yourself a nice English girl and get married and you’ll be able to stay anywhere!” Another guest argued that marriages were very expensive and cost around £50,000. According to The Telegraph, they reported that there was an advertisement for a religious affairs manager to advise detained illegal migrants on “how to get married and organise weddings.”

They also said that the role is a full-time post at Campfield immigration removal centre. One of the main duties is to “counsel residents who request marriage whilst in custody and make any necessary arrangements for the wedding”.

Chris Philp, the shadow home secretary, remarked: “This is an absurd job advert which further insults the British taxpaying public. People in an immigration removal centre are either in the country illegally or are foreign criminals due for removal.

“In either case, they should be rapidly deported from the UK, and it is ridiculous to be helping them get married here using taxpayers’ money. In my view, this role shouldn’t even exist at all – people here illegally and foreign criminals should be rapidly deported with the minimum of fuss, delay and expense.”

The Home Office has since removed the advert. However, postings for the role are still available online on other websites.

However, the Home Office guidance strictly states: “Getting married or entering a civil partnership to gain an immigration advantage is not a legal impediment and, in any event, only a registrar may prevent a marriage/civil partnership on this ground.”

Earlier today, the Labour Government and Rachel Reeves were brutally slammed on GB News in an embarrassing takedown. On the news programme, economics expert Justin Urquhart Stewart discussed Britain’s financial status, saying confidence has been sapped out of the economy.

This comes after it was revealed that, according to official figures, UK borrowing hit a five-year high for August at £18 billion. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) unveiled public sector net borrowing, which is the difference between public spending and income, and it had risen to £18 billion in August, £3.5 billion more than in the same month one year earlier.

This is a huge blow for the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, who is gearing up to deliver her autumn budget on November 26.

Justin Urquhart Stewart quipped on GB News: “Fingers crossed – it can’t carry on like this. Why are they not creating any confidence? […] You couldn’t make this up, could you?” whilst Tom Harwood said: “Things are getting worse!”
