In their last group-stage match of the Asia Cup 2025, Pakistan defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in a win-or-bust encounter by 41 runs, hence qualifying for the Super Four round.

The match was a crucial one for Green Shirts, as a loss might have resulted in their disqualification from the tournament before the Super Four round.

Chasing the target of 147 runs, the UAE were all out for 105 runs in 17.4 overs. Shaheen, Haris, and Abrar took a couple of wickets each for Pakistan, dismantling the UAE batting lineup.

This defeat marked the end of the UAE’s journey in the Asia Cup 2025.

The UAE won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first, as the match began with a one-hour delay.

Pakistan opener Saim Ayub returned to the pavilion without scoring a run, continuing his streak of ducks in the tournament, first against Oman and second against India. He also equalled the record of former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, having eight ducks in twenty-over cricket.

Fakhar Zaman scored a half-century on 36 deliveries before losing his wicket to Simranjeet Singh.

Unbeaten Shaheen Shah entertained the spectators again with his bat, hitting three fours and two spectacular sixes, championing the late-overs rebound for his team. He also scored 33 runs on just 16 balls against India, smashing four giant sixes.

Junaid Siddique grabbed four wickets for UAE, abetting the team’s efforts to restrict Pakistan on a trifling total.
